Epson Print Academy

(April 24, 2004) The Espon Print Academy is coming to Boston on May 1st and 2nd at Hilton Boston Logan Airport. According to their PR firm: "The Epson Print Academy is for photo enthusiasts, filled with presentations, how-to tutorials, demos and interviews with photographers and printmakers like Bruce Dale, Bob Krist, Greg Gorman, Jay Maisel, Jack Reznicki and Mac Holbert from Nash Editions. Epson will be giving away a new Epson Stylus Photo 2200 at each Print Academy event. Marshall Goff at Nonantum Library

(April 20, 2004) The next set of prints at the Nonantum branch are Marshall Goff's water-themed images. As well as being great images, the prints -- which span the range from nature close-ups, scenics, and abstract works emphasizing color and tone -- were printed in Marshall's home digital darkroom and show the high quality of professionalism that's possible with today's technology. They will be on display in April and part of May.

Adam Shyevitch show at Berkeley Perk Cafe

(April 1, 2004) Adam's first public show is at the Berkeley Perk Cafe in Boston's Back Bay/South End (on Berkeley Street, two blocks south of Columbus). If you're in the neighborhood, stop in, have a cup, check it out, and let Adam know how great it is. The show runs through July, and you can see a sneak preview online.

Mary Coyne at Nonantum Library

(March 1, 2004) Mary Coyne's intimate color portraits of flowers are the next installment in our rotating print series at the Nonantum branch of the Newton Public Library. The images have fine detail, terrific detail, and superb lighting; they will be on display through the month.

Jeff Mather at Nonantum Library

(November 13, 2003) Our print series continues in November with ten black and white photographs by Jeff Mather. The series, "Iowa and Kansas," examines rural and small-town life and issues of continuity and change. The images displayed at the library are part of a larger series of outdoor and nighttime "townscapes" and family portraiture. They will be on display throughout the month.

Mass Audubon programs in digital nature photography

(October 30, 2003) The Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center will present a one day course in "Basic Digital Darkroom for Nature Photographers" on Saturday, November 22 at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts in Waltham. Topics in this introductory workshop include scanning, image correction using Photoshop, and ink-jet printing. The price is $95 - $110, and registration is required. Don Crasco awarded Strindberg Ornithology Medal

(October 23, 2003) During the annual nature slide competition held as part of the NECCC Photo Conference in July at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Don Crasco was awarded the Strindberg Ornithology Medal(Best Bird) for his slide "Marsh Wren #4" which was taken at Great Meadows in Concord.

Amy Oppenheimer at Nonantum Library

(September 23, 2003) Amy Oppenheimer begins our rotating series of prints at the Nonantum branch of the Newton Public Library with a fantastic set of color photographs from the Colorado Rockies. The images, which she made while attending the Rocky Mountain School of Photography this summer, possess wonderful color harmony and exquisite attention to detail and form. They will be on display through October.

American Photography on PBS

(September 8, 2003) The three hour PBS documentary American Photography: A Century of Images will be rebroadcast this Saturday, September 13, on WGBH 44 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. The three episodes cover the history of the medium and the various photographic arts as they show many of the finest and most recognizable American images from the last century. Set your VCR!
