Carole Smith Berney at Boston Biomedical Research Institute

(August 25, 2003) Carole Smith Berney has been receiving a great deal of publicity about her exhibit showing photos of animal life and nature scenics along the Charles River in Watertown -- including mention in the August 7th issue of the Boston Globe. This is the second such exhibit by Ms Berney and her work has helped to advertise the newly redeveloped walkway along the Charles River in Watertown. As Ms Berney demonstrates, there is a lot to see if you only stop and look.

Her work will be on display at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute now through Sept 12. The Institute is located at 64 Grove Street, Watertown and the gallery is open from 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. On the evening of Tuesday, Sept 9, 2003, Ms Berney will be presenting a slide lecture on "Watertown on the Charles: Urban Biodiversity" at the Institute at 6:15pm. Please contact Ginny Sullivan at 617-658-7711 for more information.

Wellesley College, Friends of Horticulture

(August 25, 2003) From September 23 through Thanksgiving, Mary Coyne will have an exhibit of "Flower Portraits" in the Friends of Horticulture Building adjacent to the Ferguson Greenhouses at Wellesley College. This work has been accumulated over several years and many of the photos were taken in the Coyne yard surrounding their home as well as at other venues in Massachusetts and Florida. The Greenhouses and adjacent Friends of Horticulture building are open daily.

SOAR Photo Exhibit at Newton Free Library

(August 12, 2003) There was a photo exhibit by SOAR (Senior Opportunities After Retirement) showing portraits of their volunteers at work. It was comprised of about 36 photographs taken on site throughout 2002-2003. Newton Camera Club members Mary Coyne and Marshall Goff shot the majority of the pictures and Rebecca Masland and Elisif Brandon also contributed. Newtonville Camera graciously printed all the photographs gratis and Mary Coyne mounted and labeled all the work. The work has been removed from the library now but will be hung in Newton City Hall for the month of September. We encourage you to have a look at these black and white environmental portraits.

Audubon Broadmoor Sactuary, South Natick

(August 12, 2003) During the month of July the Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers Photographers (SVNP) had a show of nature photography taken at surrounding Audubon Santuaries. Mary Coyne had 2 color and 1 black and white photos in the exhibit.
