You can't read photography news in 2023 without hearing about artificial intelligence (AI) image generation.  It could be an announcement about a new tool from Adobe, Google, or OpenAI, or it might be an argument or lawsuit about the copyright aspects of the tools. Let's take a *practical* look at generative AI as photographers.

We'll review how AI image-generation tools work and touch on the copyright issues briefly before diving into how to incorporate them into our creative world. Topics in the talk include:

  • Using generated imagery in conjunction with traditional photography

  • When generated imagery makes sense

  • A humorous look at whether we should fear being replaced as photographers
