Newton Free Library Show

Sign Up Deadline: January 28

Reception: March 5, 7-8:30pm
Show: March 1 - 28

NCC members showcase their best work in this-month long show.

Members may request to show 1 or 2 prints. Space is limited in the library this year due to renovations. We hope there is room for 1 print per person. If there is not enough exhibit space for every member who signs-up, then we will proceed on a “first come basis," so SIGN UP early! Please indicate if your prints will be portrait or landscape orientation so we can plan accordingly. If we have extra exhibit space, we will do a lottery to determine who can submit 2 prints.

All members are encouraged to sign up to bring a food contribution to the opening.

See details and rules below.

Location

Newton Free Library

330 Homer St

Newton, MA

The Details

Your framed image or images should be brought to the Newton Camera Club meeting on February 25. Volunteer collectors will take prints home and transport them to the Library for hanging on March 1st. Members can also arrange to deliver their prints to one of the collectors’ homes before February 25th.

After the images are hung, we have an opening reception on March 5th which we hope all participants will attend. The rest of the club should also attend, along with the many people you invite. All attending club members (participants in particular) should bring a refreshment contribution for the reception. Please sign up to bring a refreshment.

At the end of the show, volunteer collectors will take prints down and transport them to their homes. They can either be collected there or at the following camera club meeting.

How to Sign Up

For this show, all you need to do is SIGN UP by January 28th and indicate how many prints (1 or 2) you wish to exhibit and their orientation (P or L). After the January 28th deadline, you will be notified how many framed prints you will be able to exhibit. Be sure to sign up early since prints to exhibit will be selected based on sign-up time if there is not enough space for everyone to exhibit.

Framing

  • Label your framed images!
Put your name, title and the price (or NFS..not for sale) on a label on the back of each framed work. If plexiglass is used, please also add a P to the label so we don’t try and clean them with Windex.

  • Frames must be sturdy and wired
All frames are required to be sturdy and have a wire across the back. If the frame is not sturdy, your image will not be hung.

  • Framed size should be 16" x 20"
Frames should be 16" x 20 " or visual equivalent for other aspect ratios. No larger images will be accepted. Prints should be around 10"x15". Significantly smaller images in appropriately smaller frames are discouraged as they will be “lost” visually. Please let us know if you would like to show a small print.

  • Use black frames with white mattes.
We strongly suggest black frames with white / off white mattes to provide a degree of uniformity for the exhibit.

  • Protect your images.
Glass or Plexiglas to protect your print is highly recommended but not mandatory. As above, if plexiglass is used, please add a P to the label. No plastic sheeting please.
