Cooper Center Grand Opening "Trilogy"
December 5, 2025
3:00 PM
Submission Deadline:
Oct 15, 2025
The Cooper Center for Active Living is the new senior center at 345 Walnut Street in Newton. NCC is participating in the inaugural art exhibit along with the Newton Art Association and Newton Watercolor Society in a joint show called "Trilogy: A Newton Art Collaboration." The Cooper Center Grand Opening is at 10am on Friday, December 5th. Because this is a group show and our wall space is limited, we anticipate hanging between 15 and 20 pieces. Starting next spring, we will have a yearly exhibition slot of our own in May and June, accommodating between 60 and 70 pieces.
Due to the limited space, the curation committee will select a set of 15 to 20 images. Remaining images may be submitted for the March Library show or the May/June annual Cooper Center show. No photographer will have more than one image accepted into the show.

Guidelines
How to Submit
Identify up to 4 family-friendly images you want to submit prior to the deadline.
Create JPG copies, sRGB color space, sized to 1920 pixels on the long side.
Submit single images only, no diptychs or triptychs.
Submit ONLY images that have not been exhibited in an NCC print or online show. You may submit images from NCC competitions, critiques, and mini-shows or images that have been in sales or shows elsewhere.
Name your images using the following naming convention:
Cooper_Full Name_Title_Size_Orientation (L or P)
For example:
Cooper_Nicole Mordecai_Lovely Image_18x24_L
Please use your "Full Name" as you would like it printed on an image label. "Title" is the title of your image with spaces between the words and the "Size" of the image should be the framed size with the width first followed by the height. Use "L" for landscape (horizontal) images and "P" for portrait (vertical) images.
NOTE: please use an underscore between elements, as indicated.
Submit your images using the Dropbox link. This link is for members only. Please be sure you are logged out any Dropbox account before submitting files.
We will be picking one image to use for PR as a printed postcard and also for online use. If you DO NOT want your photo used for this, please email us and let us know.
After the curation process completes, you will receive an email notification, perhaps with comments from the curators, letting you know if one of your images was accepted. If so, please get them printed and framed as soon as possible. We will notify you of the drop-off date as soon as that information becomes available.
Framing
Label your framed images!
Put your name, title and the price (or NFS..not for sale) on a label on the back of each framed work. If plexiglass is used, please also add a P to the label so we don’t try and clean them with Windex.Frames must be sturdy and wired
All frames are required to be sturdy and have a wire across the back. If the frame is not sturdy, your image will not be hung.Framed images should be a minimum of 16x20 and a maximum of 20x24.
Black frames with white mats
We strongly suggest black frames with white / off white mats to provide a degree of uniformity.Protect your images.
Glass or Plexiglas to protect your print is highly recommended but not mandatory. As above, if plexiglass is used, please add a P to the label. No plastic sheeting please.
Notes
You must be a paid up for 2025-2026 member to participate. Please pay your dues as early as possible, but no later than October 15th.
Note that the curators put a lot of thought into which images they select. They may require/request changes in your images. In order to honor their efforts and to keep confusion down to a minimum, please accept their suggestions. Also, substitutions requested after the show has been curated will very likely not be approved.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS please send us an email as far in advance of the show as possible and someone will be happy to help.
