Cooper Center Summer Show

The Cooper Center for Active Living is the new senior center at 345 Walnut Street, Newton where we participated in the Grand Opening Exhibit which ended at the end of February 2026. The Cooper Center has since instituted a new mechanism for applying for shows. They have just published a call for art for a show that would run June 1 - August 28, 2026.  All images that are part of the exhibit must be submitted as part of the application process to be considered.  We will have greater clarity on the number of pieces that can be hung upon acceptance. Please read the timeline below carefully to understand the application process.


NOTE: The first part of the process involves selecting and submitting one digital image that we can include in our application.  We will notify you about whether the NCC has been accepted by the Cooper Center on April 10th and whether or not we will be able to hang all the entered artwork.  


Please follow the Guidelines below and submit 1 image to Dropbox by March 10th.

Guidelines

How to Submit

  1. Identify 1 family-friendly image you want to submit prior to the deadline.

  2. Create a JPG, sRGB color space, sized to 1920 pixels on the long side.

  3. Submit single images only, no diptychs or triptychs.

  4. Submit ONLY images that have not been exhibited in an NCC print or online show. You may submit images from NCC competitions, critiques, and mini-shows or images that have been in sales or shows elsewhere.

  5. Name your images using the file naming convention:

    Full Name_Title_Size_$Price

    For example:

    Nicole Mordecai_Lovely Image_18x24_$295

    Please use your "Full Name" as you would like it printed on an image label. "Title" is the title of your image with spaces between the words and the "Size" of the image should be the framed size with the width first followed by the height. Add the price at the end

    NOTE: please use an underscore between elements, as indicated.

  6. Submit your images using the Dropbox link. This link is for members only. Please be sure you are logged out any Dropbox account before submitting files. 

  7. We will be selecting one or more images to use for PR. If you DO NOT want your photo used for this, please email us and let us know.

  8. Should NCC be accepted, the curators will select the number of images that can be hung via lottery and notify photographers on April 10th.


Framing

  • Label your framed images!
    Put your name, title and the price (or NFS..not for sale) on a label on the back of each framed work. If plexiglass is used, please also add a P to the label so we don’t try and clean them with Windex.

  • Frames must be sturdy and wired
    All frames are required to be sturdy and have a wire across the back. If the frame is not sturdy, your image will not be hung.

  • Framed images should be a minimum of 16x20 and a maximum of 20x24.

  • Black frames with white mats
    We strongly suggest black frames with white / off white mats to provide a degree of uniformity.

  • Protect your images.
    Glass or Plexiglas to protect your print is highly recommended but not mandatory. As above, if plexiglass is used, please add a P to the label. No plastic sheeting please.


Notes

You must be a paid up for 2025-2026 member to participate. Please pay your dues as early as possible, but no later than March 9th. NOTE: New members joining after March 1st have their dues applied to the remainder of this year and all of the 2026-2027 membership year.
