Notice About Meetings

Updated: May 4, 2020

To the Newton Camera Club: As the public health situation continues to evolve rapidly, we have also learned that the City of Newton and the Senior Center are canceling their own evening and weekend programs and significantly curtailing gatherings. Accordingly, and with the health and safety of our membership foremost in mind, we have also made the decision to suspend the camera club's in-person meetings for the forseeable future. The season is not lost! We still intend to hold as much of our program as possible via online meetings. This means we still hope to host remaining competitions, including revisiting the Nature Competition from earlier this year. We are also working on plans to discuss printing and preparing images for print for the next meeting, though sharing our prints will have to wait until we all gather in person again. We may even be able to do our scavenger hunt later this Spring. We understand that not everyone has equivalent technology for joining meetings remotely, but hope as many people as possible will be able to do so. We will arrange a test ahead of the next meeting and try to support people as best we can. As of now, we still plan to hold our print exhibit at Newton City Hall. We will work with them directly and let everyone know if a change to that plan is necessary. This is obviously not our preference. We deeply enjoy the camaraderie we share in person. However, we have to prioritize the health and safety of all of our members and we have to follow the lead of the City and the Senior Center. Please continue to follow reputable sources of information, and take good care. If you have questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please reach out to Marshall or Sue.  - NCC's Presidents and Executive Committee
