Remote Meeting (See Instructions)

Just as each photographer has his or her own style of shooting, each person who edits photos tends to have a certain aesthetic. There's no right and wrong when it comes to editing styles, but we can all learn from the different approaches we each take. Inspired by a recent raw editing challenge published by photographer Nigel Danson, in this member-run program, Nicole & Joern will provide four unedited photos for you to download on June 15th during Joern's Photo Processing Tools presentation. You will have 10 days to edit some or all of these photos and upload your edits to DropBox. During the session on June 29th, each person who submits edits will have a chance to explain what they did and why for at least one submitted image (more if time permits). Optionally, you can share your screen to briefly show how you used your editing tool to accomplish the results.

**Instructions for downloading**

  • Click on the download link.

  • This will take you to a Google Drive with two folders:

    • Edit DNG Files

    • Edit JPG Files

    • Edit RAW files

  • Select the format you wish to download, DNG, JPG or RAW. It's best to download the RAW images if your image processing software will work with this richer format. Next best is the DNG files if you have an older version of Photoshop.

  • Click on the corresponding download folder.

  • Click on the "More Actions" menu (three vertical dots) to the right of the trash can and select "Download." This will generate  zip file with the four images to edit.

  • Depending on your browser, you will either be asked where to save the zip file or it will automatically be saved in your Downloads folder. If you see a warning about "Leave Site," just click OK.

  • Once the zip file is saved, find it on your computer and double-click on it to uncompress the zip file. You should then be able to see the folder with the four images.

Please submit edited photos via Dropbox

  • You must be a member in good standing to enter. Please pay dues now if necessary.

  • Please log out of your DropBox account before submitting your images.

Joern Hopke

Joern has been a member of the NCC for the last two years, but has gathered experience as a hobby photographer for almost 40 years. He started out using his Dad's Minox, and a few years later his Leica R3 usually loaded with a roll of Kodakchrome 64. Later on he graduated to a battered Leica M2, and eventually a Leica M6, solely focusing on B&W. First forays into digital photography with a Nikon D50 and an Olympus E-P2 were an exercise in frustration, as they poorly matched the rangefinder experience. But with the advent of the Fuji X-Series, he fully embraced a digital workflow, and since then has tried to hone his skills in this area.
