This year's Nature competition will feature three categories: Landscapes, Wildlife, and Open. While images with the "hand-of-man" are acceptable, they should primarily feature the landscape or wildlife you are featuring. For the Wildlife category, the animals must not be captive or domesticated.

You may submit up to a total of three images: one image in each of the three categories, or two images in one category and one image in another category.

Categories to use in your file names are Landscape, Wildlife, or Open.

Please refer to our Competition Rules page for detailed instructions on how to prepare and submit your images.

Judge: Tom/Lisa Cuchara

Lisa and Tom are passionate about photography, both behind the lens and in the digital darkroom. They are OM SYSTEM Ambassadors, educators, authors, and photographers who believe life looks better through a lens. Their photographic playground embraces a wonderful plethora of subjects: birds and bugs, flowers and frogs, macro and night skies, landscapes and light painting, rusty treasures and forgotten places. They love photographs straight from the camera and photographs transformed in the digital darkroom. For Lisa and Tom, photography isn't simply about recording what something looks like, but capturing what it feels like.

From their photography studio in Hamden, Connecticut, they teach photography, lighting, macro, still life, light painting, portraiture, and post-processing. Beyond the studio, they lead photography workshops and adventures that welcome photographers of every camera brand and skill level. Smartphones, mirrorless, DSLR, film... if it captures photons, bring it!

Lisa and Tom are active in photographic organizations throughout New England and nationally. They have presented for PPA, PSA, NECCC, PPANE, Nature Visions, CAP, camera clubs, garden clubs, and many other organizations. They also teach, mentor, judge competitions, exhibit their work, and have earned numerous awards in local, national, and international competitions.

Their photographs have appeared in Adirondack Life, Wild Bird, and Birder's World, as well as books, calendars, covers, galleries, and juried exhibitions. They are the authors of two Amherst Media books, Create Fine Art Photographs from Historic Places and Rusty Things and The Frog Whisperer: Portraits and Stories.

When they're not chasing light, birds, frogs, waterfalls, stars, or beautifully rusty things, Lisa and Tom share their world with their two-legged and four-legged family and maintain a healthy appreciation for sunsets and hot fudge sundaes.

Their philosophy is simple: Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.

They love to Teach, Mentor, Motivate, and Inspire, helping photographers see differently, experiment fearlessly, and have more fun creating.
