Competitions provide learning through thoughtful critique by experienced judges; recognize and reward good work; and challenge us to create photographs on various themes and topics. Beyond that, they are an opportunity for as many people as possible to share their best work.

The Newton Camera Club typically hosts four themed competitions a year plus an annual Scavenger Hunt, which is run as a competition.

Larry’s fascination with photography started over 50 years ago in his father’s small darkroom that was tucked under the basement stairs. His work has won many awards at international, national and local exhibits. His photographs have been published and exhibited in the United States and Internationally.

Besides being an active member of the Marblehead Arts Association where he exhibits frequently as well as serving on the Art Committee, he is also active with the Swampscott Arts Association, the Greater Lynn Photographic Association, the Photographic Society of America and the New England Camera Club Conference and the Marblehead Festival of Arts.

Recently retired, Larry has a degree in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has spent 30+ years in retail sales. He has owned his own business for 10 and has managed and been a buyer in the Outdoor and Ski Industries for the remainder.

Beside his passion for photography, he and his wife love to travel, cycle, kayak, ski, snow shoe and spend time with their grand daughter and grand son.
